Bed ready for shuttering

We have been surprisingly busy with visitors for the time of year so progress on the Welches Dam Allen has been a little slow.

I did finally get the frame welded up earlier in the week and today we transferred the crank and bed ready for shuttering.

We will allow the bed and frame (total weight 8 tons) to settle and then shim it level. There are fourteen, inch and a quarter holding down bolts to make, 30 inches long and all need to be screw cut in the lathe :-(

The shuttering will be put in early next week and the concrete poured the following Monday. On track for a first run at the End of Season Crankup.

I always liked the Allens; good reliable engines. What's that under the red cover, behind the air tank?
