As always things are only worth what someone will pay. Even the now rife shilling can't explain some prices ! Can it be true that there are people with more money than sense or is it just a few who have no perception of value. Like the morons who cannot grasp that driving 3 feet from one's rear end in ice is DANGEROUS.

Happy New Year to all

Roland,

I can go slightly better than that, I've has the rear nearside of my van modified because someone "couldn't stop" even though I had been stationary at a red light for nearly a minute. Got my own back though, he had no visible damage to his bodywork but my towball had fractured his radiator and he had lost his coolant, at least I could carry on with my journey :D

Actually it's not dangerous. The theory is that if the following car is very close and the front car stops, there's only a small bump when the 3 feet gap disappears whereas if there's a bigger gap, there's time to build a greater speed difference and a bigger collision occurs. That's why train carriages travel either VERY close to the one in front (as in part of the same train) or a very long way behind.
I would agree if you said it was stupid but dangerous - no.

John,

If thats the case then why do railway carriages have impact zones at each end to absorb the impact, if your theory was correct these would not be needed. Come to think of it cars have them as well.
