In this great hobby of ours, do you ever get to the point were you have enough room for your collection?
Which comes first the engine or the space

Ah the old question and to quote from one far wiser than me – “Space - the final frontier”.
The answer is a simple NO you will never have enough space. However the explanation is much more difficult. It involves the complex relationships within the space/time/money continuum which governs restoration relativity:
• The trio is circular. If you have enough space, you don’t have enough time or money.
• You can make more time available (give up work) but then money is a problem.
• If you are lucky enough to have enough money, you can buy engines and space but then time is the limitation.
• Basically, you cannot have enough of all 3 unless you are infinitely rich, possess infinite space and are immortal.
There are other rules of course:
• Nature abhors a vacuum (and an empty horizontal surface)
• The rubbish will expand to fill the space available
• As soon as your collection is complete, another example will turn up
• There are more people in the world making stuff than there are collectors
As for which came first? I suspect space did unless the bible missed the bit about the lord creating an engine before he created the world. Of course one could define the first engine as the initial big bang that created everything.
I'm off to lie down now.
