Gentlemen,

I've been working in Oxford since Tuesday so have stayed away, over the last couple of weeks my left leg has been quietly getting worse so my wife booked me an appointment to see the doctor tomorrow. This morning I had a bath and when I had finished I got out and sat on the bath side to dry myself, when I had finished I started to stand up and my left leg slid away from me and then I collapsed on the floor with the leg tucked under me, somewhere it has been impossible for me to do for over a year. I managed to get my leg out from under me but it was another ten minutes or so before the pain subsided enough for me to stand up. I now cannot walk without severe pain and my knee is almost locked solid so driving home this morning was not fun :( should be an interesting visit to the doctors tomorrow.

Martin,

I am very sorry for you, but I can't help myself thinking of "The sick note" when reading your posting.
.........."So I hope you'll understand why Peter 's not at work today"........

Get well,

hopped off to the doctors this morning, originally appointment was to discuss calf muscle problem but until knee problem is sorted this is masking original problem so now on anti inflammatory tablets and pain killers and resting on my recliner. Am able to walk painlessly but knee feels like moving through thick gloop. Day time telly and finding out Duclington is cancelled has caused mild depression but have managed to catch up on reading and recordings. Saw my wifes leg today, for the first time in weeks, when the nurse called to redress it and I'm pleased to report that the cellulitus is now receding rapidly and her general demeanour and depression is lifting.

You have my sympathy. I'm suffering from plantar faciitis at the moment and just got a splint to wear while sleeping. Usually clears it up after a couple of weeks.

Gentlemen,

Well after five days of rest and tablets, still have to take them for another week, I feel as if I can return to work tomorrow. Its our company meeting with the MD giving his "state of the company" address so should be an easy day, at least I have no desire to walk in left hand circles  anymore.
I've been advised by my doctor to use a stick more though.

Just don't use it for prodding the MD!

Gentlemen,

Some goodish news on the left leg front, went to see a muscular specialist yesterday and after answering some questions and swinging my legs into unknown positions he has come to a conclusion. Last August I stumbled down some steps and twisted my left ankle which I had assumed had healed itself then I found out that I now have an Arthritic knee. The calf muscles are joined to the rear of the ankle and also to the rear of the knee, these two problems are causing the muscles to go into overload (pain), I found last weekend when trying on some new walking shoes with high ankle side supports that the pain is greatly reduced so if I can allow the ankle to heal I shoud no longer have the pain.
