First inspection involved lifting the cylinder head and removing the piston/barrel.

The engine was seized and there is significant damage to the liner. Piston is in good condition along with little and big-ends.

Barrel has a liner which will now be removed and compared with the standard Leyland 400 item.

The bottom end of the engine appears to be in very good order and apart from cleaning all the oil ways/external pipes there should be no need to strip.

Crankshaft has significant wear on further inspection and is now awaiting suitable undersize bearings to be sourced before being ground. Engine now stored in a dismantled state.
