History
2010-02-08

Originally installed as an emergency generator at Cross Houses Hospital in Shrewsbury. Removed by a scrap man in the 80s the original dynamo has been lost. Purchased on Ebay by the museum using money from the Stationary Engine List - a worldwide internet based group of enthusiasts.

Conservation/ Maintenance History
Initial Inspection
2005-11-13

The engine was stripped on arrival and found to have significant wear on all components on the flywheel end cylinder.

The camshaft was badly worn and big end and no 1 main had significant wear.

All valves showed severe pitting.

No 1 inlet and exhaust cams built up and hand profiled to match the others.

All valves ground and the seats cut.

Broken water inlets welded and sealed.

Modified to include an oil priming pump.

Final assembly.

Coil system incomplete so initially will be run on magneto only.


First Run
2008-04-24

First run at the Easter Crankup with 10 psi oil pressure and no rattles. On magneto only.
