Paul Evans and Keith Farley went down in early January 2003 to view the engine al Ellerslie near Exeter.
The engine was in a dismantled state stored in an open fronted barn and suffering from some weathering.
The main bed was on a partially collapsed farm trailer and parts were to be found all over the site.
The engine and all main parts were removed from site and taken to Wheelers Transport at Bridgewater for storage before moving to Wales.
The engine arrived at the museum and the block was placed onto the prepared bed in Power hall 3
The engine was sold to a private collector in March 2013 to raise funds for the museum. The engine will remain on display at the museum.
