    Hi folks,
We're thinking about having a crank up-light up at the farm where we store our engines some time next year.
Its a very nice spot on wenlock edge about a mile from Much wenlock, the field is nice and level with a water supply an ideal spot to have a get together.
Anyone wanting to camp would be more than welcome as theres plenty of room, i'm not sure if it will be open to the public yet as this may cause some health and safety issues, i'd need to look into that. It would be more of a social event for like minded people.
We'd hopefully have our collection of engines on display and run the ones in runable condition on the day or days if we decide to make it a two day event depending if theres enough interest.
Everyone would be welcome to come along.

Would there be any interest in such an event?

    Regards Gary..

    Gary,

You can put my name down also, I tried to run a small do on the village playing field a few years ago, public liability insurance was so bloody expensive I new that charging the public would not recoup the insurance money alone. Then there is toilets to consider, then Health and Safety, Risk assessments, parking etc. Have I put you off inviting the public yet. :D

    Hi Bob.
It would be sometime later in the year July August September time most likeley as the field has silage grass on it earlyer in the year this will dictate when we can use it really.
I'll try and chose a weekend when theres not much else on as i know that time of year theres quite a lot going on. I'll need to speak to the owner to confirm whats best for him really before i make any decisions.

    Cheers Gary

Hi Martin, thats what i thought :) it's more likeley to be no public!, where do i stand if there is no charge to get in?

I'm happy to hire a couple of portaloos out of my own pocket for the weekend and could probably get a butty van there as i know someone that does an exellent fry up :) but would not be happy pouring money into the insurance pit etc. would like to keep it fairly simple!

    Cheers Gary

Count me in, sure I can find something interesting to bring along, even if it's a barrel of ale  My public liability through Walker Midgely covers me and anyone acting under my instruction, but sadly not the public - might be worth asking them, but perhaps best as an enthusiasts 'invitation only' style event.

    Cheers

    Gary,

As far as I am aware each individual is covered with his own insurance but for it to be public you would have to extra insurance.
Best not to publish it in the public domain as this would then cause you problems from gate crashers.

Watch your no of invites as a Portallo is capable of 10 men using it for one week so work your number from that.

Dan, beer sounds good :) I think it'll be far better as you say as a invitation event, we just want every one who comes to enjoy themselfs and not be bothered by H&S and all that, as long as we all have our own insurance there shouldn't be any bother with that side of things.
If we let in the public it opens up a whole host of problems as i understand it.

We'll probably go down the invite only route although fellow enthusiasts are more than welcome along.

    Regards Gary..

Put me down as well, Gary, harvest permitting.

Not far for me to come. :) Do you plan on having folks bringing their own kit or just having your collection running?

Hi Arthur, i'd like people to bring an engine if they want to theres plenty of room but it's not a requirement, i'm happy for people just to bring themselves along if they dont fancy dragging an engine here :).
There should be plenty of Listers to play with if anyone fancys it :).

Hopefully we'll have a couple of the engines working one on the saw bench and perhaps another can provide lighting in the evening when we're having a beer or two :).

    Cheers Gary..

Gary, I would like to come along too depending on when you decide to hold the event. Its about a four hour drive for me so would possibly like to make a weekend out of it if camping or a local B&B is available.

    Regards Paul. :D

Hi Paul, your more than welcome to attend, camping is no problem or if you prefer there are several B&Bs just down the road in Much Wenlock.

would like to participate also. have you booked the rain yet, that costs a lot on the insurance! maybe you can get something local with public liability to get you covered, like a local pub or builders yard where the public roam.

We'd be happy to have you along. Rain? we dont get any rain in shropshire  We've got a fordson Major should a tow be required!..
I may approach our club as they may be able to help with the liability insurance, so we could be covered for a few public visitors, I wouldn't be expecting large numbers anyway.

    Cheers Gary..

Hi Gary, I'm interested too, depending on date. Should be able to find something to bring, even if it's just my D.

I spoke to the landowner yesterday and i've got the go ahead, we'll probably hold the event sometime in between Dorset and the Internal fire EOS do as there's less on at that time of year so hopefully most people will be able to attend.

    Cheers Gary..
