    Hi,

I have a National Oil Engine built by The National Gas & Oil Engine Company.
On its identification plate: Type MB, 17 Horsepower, RPM 400, Serial number: 51861.
Can you please help me with some more information and the year of manufacture?
I live in South Africa and also on the engine is that it was imported bt WM Spilhaus & Company.

    Hello,
I am told that dating a National is usually not going to be precise due to lack of records. I have a model KB diesel and was led on to the Anson Museum http://www.enginemuseum.org/ and they were able to give me a range of years of manufacture. Have you looked hereon this site for a manual?

    Good luck with it,
    Butch
