I've had two of these kicking around the shed for some time.

Cast into each pedal is Patented 1885

Several people have looked at them but so far nobody can tell me what they came off or did, the popular thought is they may be of railway heritage. What do you think?

    Cheers

I think Its a foot control pedal from a Delaena honing machine. I know of two such machined without the pedals :)

    Roland,
Assuming that the "patented 1885" is relavent directly to that time and machine, and not passed down from earlier machines or tools, would make the Honing machines you know of very old indeed.
If you have a use for them please let me know, they would be better doing what they were designed for :D

    Many thanks

    Paul.
