its proven to be useless trying to get any info out of shell so i wondered if any of you chaps have any tech data sheets for this old monograde engine lubricating oil......as far as i can work out, it was a pure "straight" mineral oil without any additives but i have recently been told it may have had a very basic additive ingredient. it would be nice to know for 100% sure if it was a simple straight oil or not.

if it helps, i think SHELL TALPA was a post war oil product in use during the 1950's and 1960's.

it was also sold around the world so perhaps some of you gentlemen from far and distant lands might have an old spec sheet in your collections :)

hoping somebody might be able to help.

    thanks

My Shell Australia book dated January 1967 does not list Talpa oil. It does list Tellus for use in hydraulics.

Thanks for that Martin. A most useful resource. I wish it included Shell VP :)

    cheers
