The question about reducing the rpm on a CS and the effect on effective lubrication has got me thinking.....

I wonder what the absolute lowest RPM is for a CS before it wont tick over. I have gotten down to around 250 RPM unintentionally by fiddling around whilst setting up. I cant help but wonder if this simple and bomb proof engine design would go much much lower and still maintain combustion and crank inertia....100 RPM....75..... 50 !!!! (this theoretical question excludes the carnage caused to bearings through oil starvation). I have seen badly running hit and miss engines that almost appear to stall before a combustion cycle starts them off again and the crank speed picks up.

    Any thoughts ???
