  1. Can anyone tell me what this is? I was told it could be an accessory for a Myford.

Is the non-pulley end of the drive shaft designed for tool or work holding?

The answer is on the other forum...

  5. Sorry for the delay in replying, not sure what is held but there is a small collet there. The one fitted is about 1/16" dia.

Which one of the dozens it might be on? How much more polite to post it here too.

Sorry - my answer was really directed to Andy; it's on his thread on another forum.

I THINK it is one of the many and various adjustable heads from a Taylor-Hobson engraver, something like the CX "Elephant's foot" that I own.

It's hard to tell the scale from Andy's pictures, but having seen the second picture (which I hadn't seen before) I'm not so sure. The collet chuck wouldn't be usual for the engraver; they generally have a tapered socket and locking ring to accept the engraving tool directly into the spindle assembly.

Mine too :) 1/16" would be right for a small stone for internal grinding so I'm with Huw. It doesn't look to be Myford style either. Did Myford ever have accesories driven by a round belt?

    cheers
